Jonathon Naylor Editor The Flin Flon School Board is getting behind an initiative that sends children's hockey heroes into the classroom. At their meeting last week, trustees voted to allocate up to $7,000 this year to the Bomber Buddies program at Ecole McIsaac School. It sees four members of the Flin Flon Bombers make regular visits to the school, providing positive interaction with students. The funds will not pay the players, but will rather be used for pizza parties and other activities that carry a price tag. During their meeting, the board heard from Steve Lytwyn, co-vice-principal of McIsaac, about the success of the Bomber Buddies. He said the program has good potential to help at-risk students and provides positive role models to male and female students alike. Trustee Glenn Smith said he supports the program and wants it to succeed, adding that if anyone in the community can be viewed as heroes, it is the Bombers.
