And you thought your bills were high. Flin Flon City Council paid its priciest set of bills and accounts ever Tuesday evening, authorizing cheques totaling over $6 million. Council approves payment of City expenses every two weeks, and Municipal Administrator Larry Fancy said Tuesday's total of $6,052,380 is the highest single amount in Flin Flon history. More than half of the money Ð $3.2 million Ð goes to the Flin Flon School Division for 2004 education costs. The City is required to collect municipal taxes for the school division. Close to one-third Ð $1.9 million Ð is a payment on the debenture for the new secondary sewage treatment plant being built near Boundary Ave. The bills also included a $602,000 payment to Manitoba's Public Schools Finance Board. Municipalities are required to fund the board using a formula based on the total assessed value of property within their respective community. Other portions of Tuesday's giant bill included standard expenses such as wages and taxes. "It adds up to a lot of money," said Fancy.
