Police are investigating an attempted armed robbery at Donut King early yesterday morning. Just after 2 a.m. yesterday, a lone female confronted an employee while brandishing gun, which the worker believed to be a toy cap gun. What police termed a "scuffle" ensued between the individuals before the suspect left empty-handed. Whether the gun was real or a toy, police may classify the incident as an attempted armed robbery. The suspect is described as a female between 5'6" and 5'8" in the 150 to 170-pound range. She was wearing a navy bomber-style jacket, a blue/grey toque and a scarf. The incident prompted police to contact other businesses that were open at the time, such as the Victoria Inn, and advise staff to exercise added caution. Police ask anyone with information to phone them at 687-7488 or Manitoba Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Callers to Crime Stoppers may become eligible for a cash reward while maintaining their anonymity.
