Submitted by NorVA Centre NorVA has received a Manitoba Arts Council (MAC) Grant for a Visual Arts Mentorship featuring Mr. Dean Bauche. Bauche spent a week at the NorVA Denare Beach Artist Retreat this past summer. He is a dynamic presenter, accomplished artist, passionate arts advocate and speaker. Bauche is a 21st-century artist with an old soul. His many accomplishments include: director of galleries for North Battleford 1994 to 2008; curator of the Allan Sapp Gallery 1988 to 1994; chief architect and designer for the 'Through the Eyes of the Cree' interactive multimedia exhibit for the Virtual Museum of Canada Project in 2003; and creator and curator of the 2009-10 multimedia exhibit 'Inspired by the Land'. For more information on MAC, visit their website: [email protected] The NorVA MAC grant is for a mentorship and facilitated workshops. Bauche will work in Flin Flon for three one-week sessions. Application details for applying for the five mentee spots will be distributed at the end of February. Associated with the mentorship are very popular facilitated workshops. These will be open to NorVA artists, associate artists, Friends of NorVA, as well as the northern artistic community. NorVA will be able to accommodate upwards of 20 artists per weekend workshop. NorVA recognizes HudBay Minerals for its generous support with a donation of $2,500. As founding patrons, HudBay Minerals and the Flin Flon Neighborhood Revitalization Corporation offered ongoing support to the NorVA Centre throughout 2011. NorVA is also excited to acknowledge an individual in our community for their support in the form of an anonymous donation of $1,000.
