Area man arrested for allegedly exposing self on Flinty’s Boardwalk trail

R CMP have arrested a man who twice allegedly exposed himself to women on Flinty’s Boardwalk trail.

RCMP have arrested a man who twice allegedly exposed himself to women on Flinty’s Boardwalk trail.

The 38-year-old area man was arrested Tuesday evening after a member of the public spotted a man matching the suspect’s description lying on a picnic table along the trail.

“We received several tips from the public that were instrumental in locating and apprehending the suspect in this case,” Sgt. Bert Paquet, a spokesman for the RCMP in Manitoba, said in a news release. “We would like to thank members of the public and the media for their assistance in finding this individual so quickly.”

Last Saturday, July 11, at about 10:45 am, a man attempted to speak to a woman on the trail while exposing himself with his pants partially down.

A similar incident was reported the next day, Sunday, July 12, at about 9 pm. In both cases police made extensive patrols without locating the suspect.

Tuesday afternoon, RCMP issued a news release on the incidents complete with a photo of the suspect, a dark-haired man in a light muscle shirt and dark pants.

Paquet said his understanding was that one of the victims took a photo of the suspect while walking away from him.

Less than four hours later, at about 7 pm, police fielded a call that the suspect was on the picnic table. Officers arrested the man without incident.

As of Wednesday the man, whose name was not released, was in custody pending charges related to performing an indecent act and breaching conditions.
