Active cases of COVID-19 in northern Saskatchewan have now dropped down into single digits.
Only eight active cases of COVID-19 are still being reported by the provincial government between the far north and north regions of Saskatchewan - seven in the far north and one in the north. Hundreds of cases have been reported in multiple northern communities, almost exclusively in northwest Saskatchewan, since the pandemic began.
The far north region, which includes Creighton and other nearby communities, has reported 261 separate positive cases, while the north region has reported 112 total cases. While exact locations of most COVID-19 cases have not been given, no cases have been reported in Creighton or any other nearby communities.
At one point, there were as many as 156 active cases of COVID-19 in far north Saskatchewan alone, hitting a peak May 10 after outbreaks were declared in both La Loche and Beauval. North region active cases hit their peak May 9, with 40 active cases reported.
Two new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Saskatchewan June 10. Neither case was found in a northern community. One case each was located in Saskatoon and in southern Saskatchewan.
Residents of northern communities near Flin Flon, including Creighton, Denare Beach and others, are eligible to be tested at the Flin Flon testing station at the R.H. Channing Auditorium.
