On July 6, 2013 just before 6:30 a.m., Thompson RCMP and local emergency services were dispatched to the scene of a single vehicle collision on Highway 6, just south of Thompson. Initial investigation indicates that a southbound vehicle with six occupants left the roadway and rolled over at least once. There are two confirmed deceased at this time. The deceased have been identified as a 15-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy. Their names will not be released. Four other occupants were transported to hospital with serious undetermined injuries. All six persons involved are residents of Thompson. The vehicle involved was a 2008 Chevrolet Impala. Speed and seat belt use are considered factors at this time. An RCMP Traffic collision Analyst will be assisting with the investigation. Motorists should expect delays in the area as the investigation is continuing. Traffic is reduced to one lane at this time as the investigation is continuing. Updates will be provided as information becomes available.
