Campus Manitoba brings Manitoba's post-secondary institutions to you. Formerly one of the original five centres in the First Year Distance Education (FYDE) program, Campus Manitoba Flin Flon opened in September, 1990, with Brent Howard as centre coordinator until 1998. In 1998 Val Munro became Flin Flon's centre coordinator. The centre was located in Hapnot Collegiate until the 1997-1998 regular session, when it relocated to the Adult Education Centre. CMB Flin Flon now shares premises with Many Faces Education Centre and University College of the North. The Flin Flon Centre has served full-time and part-time students over the past years, with the majority of enrollment being recent high school graduates from the Flin Flon, Creighton and Denare Beach areas. Course offerings from Brandon University, University of Winnipeg and University of Manitoba have increased from 10 courses in 1990 to 20 courses in 1995-96, to now more than 50 courses. Red River College programs and UCN courses have been recent developments within the Campus Manitoba program, with many new opportunities now available to Flin Flon and area students to access degree, diploma and certificate programs. In keeping with advances, delivery methods have also changed since 1989, moving from teleconference and satellite delivery to ILinc virtual classroom scheduled lectures and WebCT online delivery. Both methods allow for interaction between instructor and students. If students want to postpone leaving the Flin Flon area and reduce education costs by accessing a quality program in Flin Flon, they can contact Val Munro by telephone at 687-5410, tollfree at 1-866-445-0063, by email at [email protected], or visit our website at http://www.campusmanitoba.com.
