This feathered friend, known as Kakakew to the neighbours, has been making his home at a residence in Denare Beach. As a young raven, Kakakew fell out of the nest, and was abandoned by the mother. The bird was then brought to the SPCA as it needed to be cared for around the clock, and a volunteer with experience nursing birds back to health was found. Ravens, known as "Trixter" in native folklore, are very mischievous birds, and Kakakew is no exception. Although Kakakew is friendly around other people and animals, he is still a wild bird, and his foster family expects he will join another group of ravens in the fall.
