It's the end of an era for the Flin Flon Ski Club. After meeting last week, the group decided that the familiar A-frame building, located at the entrance to the ski trail network, is beyond repair and will have to be demolished. The club's Dave Price said there are no plans to rebuild, as financial resources are limited and the structure was rendered obsolete by the new ski chalet. The A-frame was designed to house timing officials during ski races, but the ski chalet is now used for the purpose. Price said the club hopes to have the building torn down before the ground thaws. A late night fire gutted the A-frame on Jan. 28. An investigation concluded the blaze was likely electrical in origin. The building has been a familiar sight to local skiers since being erected in 1980 with cedar logs from an abandoned section of railway outside of town.
