A chance to make your gift to Northern Neighbours go further

Tomorrow may be the best day of the year to make a charitable donation.

Saturday, Nov. 14 has been set aside for the Endow Manitoba Giving Challenge. From 12:10 am to 11:59 pm, every $5 donated online to the Northern Neighbours Community Foundation will be matched by $1 from the Winnipeg Foundation.

“Stretching your gift means even more benefit for our communities,” said Betty Kendall of the Northern Neighbours Community Foundation.  “The foundation plays a vital, lasting role in our area by supporting charitable projects that improve life for all of us.”

On Saturday, go online to www.endowmanitoba.ca to make a donation to the foundation’s unrestricted fund.

Community foundations permanently invest all donated funds, and the income earned supports a variety of projects. The original contributions are never spent, ensuring a permanent source of support for the community.

“Our community foundation supports all aspects of life in the Flin Flon area, making grants to a wide variety of worthy causes – from daycares to seniors’ homes, scholarships to school improvements, food banks to fitness, and much, much more,” said Kendall.

Funds donated on Saturday also benefit from an ongoing matching progam from the Thomas Sill Foundation. In place through October 2016, that program gives 50 per cent matching funds for every dollar donated.
