Jonathon Naylor Editor Covering nearly a century of Flin Flon area history isn't easy, but more than 1,000 photos spread across 200 pages has done the trick. Pictorial History of Flin Flon: 1916-2011, published by The Reminder late last year, has been a bona fide success, but it's not too late to pick up your copy. 'People are so interested in our history that I knew that it would be a hit,' says Gail Baker, the former Reminder reporter who compiled the book. Baker was at the Flin Flon Public Library last week to autograph copies of the soft-cover book, whose layout was done by The Reminder's Carl Hill. A retired nurse who has spent almost all of her life in Flin Flon, Baker previously penned three books that told the stories of long-time Flin Flonner residents, service clubs, and businesses, among others. Historical photos Her latest book is the result of a call she received from a woman whose deceased parents left behind a series of historical photos, issues of Northern Lights magazine and old Hapnot Collegiate yearbooks. Baker wondered how many other photos were out there, waiting to be published. She placed an ad in The Reminder and in time received 'well over' 1,000 photos. Pictorial History of Flin Flon: 1916-2011 is available at The Reminder, the library, The Orange Toad and the Gateway. It retails for $34.95 plus tax.
