RCMP in The Pas are looking for a driver who hit and killed a pedestrian last night on Highway 10 north of The Pas.

A Manitoba RCMP news release issued Oct. 24 states that man was found dead on the shoulder of Highway 10 about 10 kilometres north of The Pas at about 2 a.m. Sunday night. On arrival, police found the man, identified as a 31-year-old man from The Pas. The man's name has not been released.

The Pas RCMP's investigation states that the man was walking on Highway 10 on either Saturday night or early Sunday morning when he was hit by what police describe as a "large" southbound vehicle, likely on the passenger side. Investigators believe that the vehicle in question did not stop at the scene of the accident.

RCMP are asking anyone who was travelling through Highway 10 around The Pas early Sunday morning to check their vehicle or trailer for damage, specifically on the passenger side. Anyone with sudden damage on their vehicles is asked to contact police.

The accident led to the highway being closed off for several hours early Sunday morning while investigators surveyed and searched the scene. Highway 10 was reopened as of 7 a.m. Sunday morning.

Anyone with information or any potential witnesses are asked to contact The Pas RCMP at (204) 627-6200.
