Northland Ford and Flin Flon area schools have teamed up to help stock the shelves of Lord’s Bounty Food Bank.
Ford’s We Scare Hunger campaign welcomed the community to donate non-perishable food items at the dealership as well as a Flin Flon Bomber game.
Ford opened the campaign to Hapnot Collegiate in conjunction with the school’s participation in We Day, and encouraged students to donate to the cause.
Students from Hapnot, École McIsaac School, Ruth Betts Community School and Cranberry Portage Elementary School helped to collect over 1,000 pounds of food.
Northland Ford’s Allison Wilson said their goal as a dealership was to be able to fill the back of an F-150 for the food bank.
Their goal was met as Northland’s Josh Madarash, Doug Gourlay and Tim Hanna delivered the goods Tuesday afternoon, along with help from Hapnot students Andie Shaw,
Abby Wiens and teacher Natalie Milligan.
“The biggest part was the community involvement,” said Wilson, pleased with the donation made to the food bank.
Food donations were accepted through the month of October.
