Jonathon Naylor Editor A plane crash Monday in Pukatawagan left one person dead and eight others injured. An initial RCMP investigation indicated the commercial aircraft became engulfed in fire after veering off the end of the runway during takeoff. A 56-year-old Opaskwayak Cree Nation man, whose name was not released, perished. He was one of nine occupants, including the lone pilot. Injuries Police said the other occupants were transported to hospital in Winnipeg with non-life-threatening injuries. Mounties remained at the crash site Tuesday, with officials from the Transportation Safety Board expected to arrive to lead the ongoing investigation. RCMP were dispatched to the scene at about 4 p.m. on Monday.
