Introduce yourself to the public.

My name is Darren Grant and I have been employed with Dadson Funeral Home & Crematorium Ltd. since 1997. My wife Cynthia and I have two daughters, Hannah and Abbigale. Currently I sit on the board of directors of the Flin Flon Credit Union as well as serving my second term on Creighton town council.

What is the single biggest challenge facing Creighton and what would you do to address this challenge?

Currently the biggest challenge facing Creighton is the economic future of our town and surrounding area.

With our regional economy being sustained mainly by the mining industry, and with the declining mine lives of 777 and Reed Lake mines, our future will depend on economic diversification. By partnering with our neighbouring communities, we would be able to pool our ideas and resources to seek and attract new opportunities as well as collaborate on cost-saving measures such as overlapping services.

It’s time we all start to think outside the box!

What is your long-term vision for Creighton?

My long-term vision for Creighton would be a community and surrounding area that has opportunities, employment, infrastructure and services that are sustainable, which would be necessary to create a place where people would like to move to, live and retire in for generations in the future.

What do you believe makes you qualified to sit on council?

As a Creighton resident who has interest and concerns for our community and area as well as previous council experience.
