Flin Flonners among Northern Juried Art Show winners

Flin Flon area artists enjoyed success at the 2016 Northern Juried Art Show, held over the weekend in The Pas. Indigenous sculptor Irvin Head of Cranberry Portage won best in show for his three-dimensional piece entitled “Eagle Prayer.

Indigenous sculptor Irvin Head of Cranberry Portage won best in show for his three-dimensional piece entitled “Eagle Prayer.”

Monique Rainville of Flin Flon took top spot in the acrylic category for “6th Avenue North.” Flin Flon’s Lois Pedersen placed third in the same category for “Dawn of a New Day.”

In watercolour, Matthew Enns of Flin Flon captured first place for “Carnation.”

Flin Flon area artists enjoyed success in drawing and printmaking, where Tamra Martin placed first for “Second Spring,” Matthew Enns second for “The Last Portrait” and Jan Modler third for “Dancing Ladies.”

In three-dimensional art, category two, Flin Flon’s Doug Dymtriw placed first for “Migration Final or Finale.” Irvin Head placed second for “Eagle Prayer” and received an honourable mention for “Buffalo Woman.”

For “Call of the North,” Margaret Britton of Flin Flon finished first in digital art, photography or paint-enhanced photography. Fellow Flin Flonner Brandy Bloxom took second for “Protect Her.”

In fibre art, Flin Flon’s Karen Astrid Clark placed second for “Parka Party – Three Girls.”

In youth ages 9-12, Lexsey Hynes of Flin Flon placed second for “Heading Home.” Sadie Currie, also of Flin Flon, came in third for “Maxie’s Ride” while fellow area resident Hollie Currie earned an honourable mention for “Rainy Day.”
