Ojibwe performing artist Mary Black shared her spoken word poem “Quiet” on stage at Hapnot Collegiate last Saturday, June 4. In the poem, Black explores the need to speak out and address the suffering in Indigenous communities. Black and her husband, rapper Strife Asaakeezis, shared their stories of resilience through music and motivational speech at an event organized by the Women’s Resource Centre. The two were accompanied by traditional dancer Connor Keepere.
