VICTOR ROGAL Suddenly on May 20, 2005, Vic passed from this world. Victor was born in Morden, Man., on April 14, 1919. He served in the Princess Patricia Light Infantry in WWII, mostly in Italy on the front lines including Ortona. Vic gained the rank of Regimental Sergeant Major. He served in Holland in charge of setting up Canadian Infantry HQ in a heavily mined area. Victor showed great courage and dedication to his country, his family and his friends. He wished that no other son or daughter would ever have to go to war and experience the horrors that he lived through. He returned to Morden after his service and owned and operated the local bowling alley. Vic married Thelma Clyde from Neepawa in 1946. Soon after, they moved to Flin Flon, Man., where Vic worked at Hudson Bay Mining & Smelting in the Smelter until he retired. Victor was Sergeant-At-Arms more than once in the Remembrance Day ceremonies in Flin Flon. He was a lifetime Legion Member of Branch 73. Vic was also the neighbourhood handy man and barber. In 1997, Vic and Thel moved to Kamloops. Predeceased by his wife, Thelma, on December 21, 2003, and his brother, Ray Rogal of Kelowna in 1992. He will be deeply missed by his two sons, Clyde of Kisbey, Sask., and Jim (Donna) of Kamloops; sister Marion Wakefield of Haines Junction, Alaska; five grandchildren, Ashley, Roxanne, Darren, Tempest and Rochelle; two half-brothers, Harold Brunn and Wally (Joanne) Brunn; half sister, Dorothy (Ben) Kasprick; special cousins, Joyce (Doug) Armstrong; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A celebration of Victor's life to be held June 1, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at Schoening's Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
