Lawrence Samborski Lawrence was born Tuesday, January 8, 1946 at Rose Valley, Saskatchewan. He grew up on the family farm near Fosston, Saskatchewan and attended school in the Rose Valley area. Lawrence came to Snow Lake in 1966 and worked for HBM&S as a miner, heavy duty mechanic and shift boss. Lawrence was united in marriage to Elaine Linda Armsworthy, July 12, 1969 at Snow Lake, Manitoba. Lawrence started his business with his friend Cliff Harris and eventually bought out Cliff's shares. He then left the mine to run Cornerview with his wife Elaine. Lawrence renovated and re-renovated and grew the corner store to a thriving grocery business. He loved his family, his work, and his community. At various times he has enjoyed curling, playing hockey, golfing and fishing. Lawrence's true joy in the last ten years was living and working at the family cabin at 27 Berry Bay. He renovated it from a small shack to a beautiful cottage. Lawrence served the community in many ways. He coached hockey and served in an executive capacity at different time for Minor Hockey, the Curling Club, Golf Club, and Lions Club. He was a Town Councillor and also Mayor. Lawrence was very proud to be responsible for starting Snow Lake's recycling program. Lawrence loved to work, but always found time to take his boys ski-dooing in the winter, boating in the summer, and taught them many things. He loved his snow plow and was known to have helped out many people with that plow. Lawrence never said much - he just got busy and did much.
