Eulogy given by Walter Mckay: Today we are gathered to celebrate the life of Lawrence Charles Mckay, affectionately known to family and friends as Bimbo. I guess it was my fault he grew up with many people never knowing his real name. It all started when my mother brought him home from the hospital. As she placed him in his crib, I began to sing to him a popular song at the time called Bimbo. Who would have believed it would become his lifelong name. Even as a youngster growing up in Channing it was obvious he was different from the rest of us. While we were busy doing kid things Bimbo could be found discovering new trails with his dog Skippy. Bimbo would like you to believe he was as hard and tough as nails. Once as a young man he had a t-shirt which read RTHTBGLBM. When asked what it meant he would smile and say rough, tough, hard to bluff, good looking Bimbo Mckay. Yet at the same time if you needed anything he would give you the shirt off his back. Bimbo loved to work and play hard. In hockey he was dubbed ÒGeneratorÓ because of his effort and excitement while playing. Bim worked several years on the local garbage truck, where he did such a good job. Months after he finished people still phoned him at home to complain and wished he would come back to work there. In his last years he enjoyed driving for TyÕs Taxi. On July 3, 1976, BimboÕs life changed for the better. He married the love of his life and soul mate, Karen Glover. Together they had four beautiful children: Barb affectionately known to all as Punky, Tommy, Crystal and Larry. As his family grew, so did his love for them. Later he and Karen would be blessed with four wonderful grandchildren: Aleisha, Gage, Christina and Austin. No one could love his family more or be more protective than Bimbo. Bimbo also loved the outdoors, and from May long weekend until September you could find him at Neosap Lake, where it was rumoured he was ÒmayorÓ. He shared whatever he had. If you needed a boat to fish or just some refreshments, see Bimbo. The family and I would like to thank you for being here. When you leave please take happy thoughts with you because thatÕs what Bimbo would have wanted and this is who he was. Love you and miss you little brother - God bless. Thank you to everyone for your kindness and thoughtfulness. The flowers and food were greatly appreciated. Thanks again to Darren at the funeral home for your guidance and support.
