JESSIE CHIPNEY (NEE SEMCHYSHYN) With family at her side, Jessie Chipney passed away at Dauphin General Hospital on August 8, 2010 at the age of 79 years. Jessie was born on April 3, 1931 in the West Bay/Fishing River area, daughter of Metro and Maria Semczyszyn. Jessie received her education at the North Lake School. She married Peter Chipney on June 7, 1947. Following moves to Flin Flon and Bralorne, B.C. they finally settled at Rice Lake in 1955 until they moved to Dauphin in 1996 after 41 years on the farm. While at the farm, Mom was busy raising a family of five children, gardening, helping with the cattle and other numerous farm and household duties. She later even worked at the Winnipegosis Hospital in the housekeeping department. Mom enjoyed many hours of cooking, baking, knitting, crocheting, sewing, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and all her family, friends, and her special pets. Mom, with Dad, enjoyed many evenings at bingo and visiting with old and new friends. Mom was an active member of the Ukrainian Catholic Churches. Mom was predeceased by her first-born son, Vernon, her parents, three brothers and nine sisters. Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband Peter of 63 years, her children: Beverley (Boris) Harrison, Allen, (Judy) Chipney, Barbara (Will) Little, Brenda (Rodney) Minshull, Jacquie (Darryl) McLeod; her grandchildren: Trish (Robb), Trent (Valerie), Alesha (Kyle), Derek (Amber), Tammy, Trevor (Leah), Tyler, Brittni, and Brett. Her great grandchildren: Keagan, Jordyn, Lukas and Claire. Brother Tony (Eileen); Sisters: Nettie, Emily and Sylvia. Funeral service was held on August 13, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Resurrection in Dauphin, Manitoba with Father Strakhlyak officiating. Interment was at the Rice Lake Cemetery followed by a luncheon at the Fork River Hall. Active pallbearers were Trent Harrison, Derek Little, Trevor and Tyler Minshull, Robb Dubek and Kyle Schuman. Crossbearer was Brett McLeod, followed by the granddaughters Trish Dubek, Alesha Schuman, Tammy Minshull, and Brittni McLeod. In lieu of flowers, cheques may be made to the Rice Lake Cemetery where Jessie is buried, which can be given to Beverley Harrison, Box 37, Fork River, MB R0L 0V0.
