GILLESPIE, Donald Wayne We sadly announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend. Don passed away peacefully on April 5, 2010, surrounded by his family and friends at the age of 69 years. He was predeceased by his son Jamie. He is survived by his loving wife Margaret, of 41 years. His daughter Jeanie (Wade) Fisher, grandchildren Madison and Connor Fisher, and his sisters, Margo Morris and Valerie Black. Don was born in Flin Flon, MB, the only son of Archie and Jean Gillespie (Stenhouse), deceased. As a young man he travelled overseas for a number of years, spending the majority of his time in Australia and New Zealand. Don was a member of the RCMP for 22 years, his last 11 spent in Merritt, BC. He worked for a few years at Highland Valley Copper Mine before becoming a partner in an Investigations Company out of Kamloops, BC. In his later years Don enjoyed the life of a 'Snowbird' travelling to a number of different countries rekindling old friendships and making a number of new ones along the way. He enjoyed everyday and lived life to its fullest. Gillespie loved a good joke, enjoyed telling colourful stories and laughing at the simplest things. Family and friends were the most important things in his life, and he will be missed and remembered fondly by many. We will be having a private family graveside service in Merritt, but we would like to invite all of Dad's friends to join us in a celebration of his life (Irish Wake Style) to be held at the end of May or beginning of June. An announcement will follow when the details have been finalized. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Cancer Society or the B.C. Children's Hospital.
