Kimberlee Isom (Jake); David Robertson (Alicia); Lori Fortheringham (Richard); Sara Ries (Oliver); Cameron Robertson (Sara), as well as four grandchildren. Brothers and sisters: Dick (Marilyn) Robertson, Comox, B.C.; Sue (Lee) Rogers, Courtenay, B.C.; Doug Robertson, Regina, SK; JimÊ (Jewell) Robertson, Denare Beach, SK; Emiel (Maricel) Robertson, Edmonton, AB; EileenÊ (George) Paylor, Bakers Narrows, MB; Catherine (Frank) Fieber, Birch Lake SK; Jeanette (Brien) McElroy, North Bend, Wa; VirginiaÊ (Jim) McGarry, Surrey, B.C. Born in Flin Flon, MB in 1937, Dave was the first of David and Mary Robertson's 10 children. The family cottage at Beaver Lake was home base every summer. The family boat "The Mary Susan" introduced Dave and his friends to the water and sparked a life-long nautical interest. He joined the Sea Cadets, and in his senior year of high school at Hapnot was chosen to represent Manitoba on a Caribbean Cruise on the HMCS Quebec. Returning to study engineering at the University of Manitoba, he graduated as a Mining Engineer from the School of Mines in Butte, Montana. He began his professional career in Lynn Lake, Manitoba, and went on to work in Elliot Lake, ON; Cedar City, Utah; Petaluma California; and Farmington, New Mexico. Dave retired from BHP Billiton and moved to Spring, Texas after a successful career in mining. Dave was a family man; attending every track meet, science fair, and music festival his children were involved in. He loved Shakespeare and he loved debating, never missing an opportunity to engage in a political discussion. His nautical interest continued on San Francisco Bay, and later on the family houseboat on Lake Powell, Utah. His favourite movie was Master and Commander, "The Far Side of the World".Ê Dave's organizational skills were exceptional.Ê Whether crisscrossing North America in their fifth wheel, organizing a science fair, a trip to Europe or Flin Flon,Êevery detail was accounted for -- and the itinerary was strictly observed. It was wonderful to be a guest on one of Dave's well-organized outings. Dave knew his time was limited once he was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis. He created his "bucket list", and at the end was happy to report that he had completed it. His steadfast love of his family defined his every thought and ordered his every priority.
