Jean Billous (nee Kruk) of Flin Flon, MB, passed with grace and dignity at her home on April 4, 2004. She will join her parents Fred and Irene, siblings Mike, Joe, John, Tony, Anne, Mary, Terry, and special nephew Stanley, and her beloved Nick, and the family dog "Boomer". Before her illness, Jean had a full life. She was always ready to give a hand or throw in a smart comment. She was born and raised in the rural area of Arran, SK. She received her education in a small rural school. She loved to be in her garden with her flowers. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the apple of her eye. She was employed at the Flin Flon Hospital as a dietary aide and ruled the kitchen with her practical jokes. She cherished volunteering at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church. For many years she maintained the linens and flowers for the altar. She spent many happy hours being a member of the St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Women's League by assisting with the bazaars, catering to social functions, and spending many hours in the kitchen preparing food with her lady friends. She possessed a very special friendship with numerous people due to her uncanny wit. Her lifetime devotion to her family leaves her sadly missed by her daughters Valerie Laforet and Sharon Ophof and dearly loved by her grandchildren Vaughn, Colin, Krista, Gavin Laforet and Travis, Tracy (Brad) and J.R. Ophof and her great grandchildren Chloe and Tanner. She will be sadly missed by her sister Patricia Dossenback and many friends, nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church (2 Hiawatha), Flin Flon, MB on April 8, 2004, at 10:00 a.m. with Father E. Kardasinec officiating. Prayers were held April 7, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church. The families would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to her many known friends who supported and comforted Jean in her last few months. Special thanks to Jean's "angels", Virginia and family and Gayle and family. In loving memory of Jean Billous, in lieu of flowers, contributions to be made to St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 2 Hiawatha Street, Flin Flon, MB R2E 18A. Dadson Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements (204-687-5821).
