Garfield Myrle Wallaker of Channing passed away Friday, July 4, 2003 at the age of 73 years. He was born August 26, 1929 to Elmer and Zylpha Wallaker in Spalding, SK, and was educated there. He resided in Spalding, Flin Flon, and Channing during his lifetime. On January 30, 1952 he married Margaret Wilson. He worked at HBM&S, where he received his electrical trade, from 1951 until retirement in 1987. He enjoyed curling, golfing, cards, dancing, fishing and camping. He was a very quiet man who loved to spend quality time with his family. He really enjoyed music. Garfield was predeceased by his parents, brother Wesley, sister Alma, and daughter Wendy. He is survived by his children Dan (Pam), Lake Cowichan, BC; David (Sandy), Flin Flon; Karen (Rob) McKinnon, Prince George, BC; Garth (Diane) McKenzie, BC; Rob (Tina), Flin Flon; grandchildren: Shawn (Allie) Wallaker, Flin Flon; Lindsay Wallaker, Brandon, MB; James and Melissa Thompson, Prince George, BC; Kayla and Blake Wallaker, Flin Flon; and Beau Wallaker, McKenzie, BC; brothers: Harvey (Thelma), Saskatoon; Ardean, Spalding, SK; Ralph (Lila), Tisdale, SK; Wayne (Florence), Flin Flon; Marlin (Betty), Spalding, SK; and brother-in-law, Less (Janice) Wilson, Okanagan Falls, BC. Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 8, 2003 at 4:00 p.m. from the Northminster Memorial United Church with Pastor Dale Warkentin officiating. Garfield's sister-in-law Janice Wilson read the eulogy. The organist was Arlene Milton. The active pallbearer was Garfield's brother Wayne Wallaker, and honourary pallbearers were all of Garfield's friends. Ushers were Richard Trudeau and Twyla Storey, and memorial register attendants were Gayle Yungwirth and Debbie Woods. A private family service was held at Hillside #1 alongside daughter Wendy. The Legion Ladies Auxiliary served lunch at the Legion Hall. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to the Alzheimer's Society, c/o Fur Keepsakes, 120 Main Street. Dadson Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements. The family's sincere gratitude goes out to family, friends and neighbours for flowers, donations, and the abundance of food sent to their homes. You did Gar and our family proud. Margie and Family
