The Women’s Resourace Centre  invites everyone to attend its candle vigil this Friday, Dec. 6.
The event will take place on Main St. beginning at 5:15 p.m. with speeches delivered from The Bargain Shop parking lot.
It will commemorate the anniversary of the Montreal Massacre, which claimed the lives of 14 young women in 1989.
These young women were talented, ambitious and courageous.  They were murdered before they were able to fulfill their professional aspirations and live their dreams for the future.
The vigil will also represent an opportunity to reflect on the phenomenon of violence against women in society.
The public is encouraged to help deliver a message that citizens stand united to end violence against women and girls.
Candles for the vigil will be handed out at the Bargain Shop parking lot.
Main St. business owners and employees who wish to stand outside their business during the vigil can have candles dropped off ahead of time.
Call the Women’s Resource Centre at 204-681-3105 for more information.
