The board of directors of the Creighton-based Northeast Regional Housing Authority hosted a special event to honour two board members for their dedicated service. Misty Willets has been a volunteer on the board for the past 15 years and will continue in her position as chairperson. Roy Chute was commended for 10 years of volunteer service and will continue in his position as a director. Willets and Chute each received a certificate of recognition from the Province of Saskatchewan and a long-service lapel pin from the Saskatchewan Housing Corporation. Roger Parenteau, director of Northern Housing Operation for Saskatchewan Housing Corporation, made the presentation. He praised Chute and Willets for the dedicated volunteers they are and commended them for the time they have given, and will continue to give, to the community. Board members and staff were also in attendance to congratulate these volunteers. The Northeast Regional Housing Authority participates in a network of 280 housing authorities throughout Saskatchewan that are responsible for the management of social and affordable housing for seniors, families and persons with disabilities who are in need of suitable accommodation. These volunteers are representative of many Saskatchewan residents who invest in their communities with personal time and effort, and the success of Saskatchewan's social housing programs is due in large part to their dedication. The Northeast Regional Housing Authority is responsible for 197 housing units in the communities of Creighton, Denare Beach, Pelican Narrows and Sandy Bay. Present members of the board are Tamara Ballantyne, Harriet Melenchuk, Eileen Blake, Diana Estwick and Roy Chute. Misty Willets is chairperson. Donna Jamieson is manager. The Saskatchewan Housing Corporation recognizes their volunteers for 10, 15, 20 and 25 plus years of volunteer service. An average of 100 individuals from across the province are recognized on an annual basis. Presentations are also made to outgoing board members.
