A recent donation is making life easier for residents and staff of the Personal Care Home (PCH).
Flin Flon’s Don Peake purchased a Detecto 6550 Digital Wheelchair Scale for the PCH in memory of his mother, Georgie Peake.
Don had asked staff for ideas on how he could help the PCH. Health care aide Lillian Gardiner suggested a wheelchair-compatible scale for residents’ monthly weighings.
Don ordered the scale from Toronto and presented it to staff in late January, in time for the February weighings.
Reports back from the PCH are that the scale is a great tool that has made the weighings much easier.
Georgie, who passed away last December, was affectionately known as “the Duck Lady” for the years of TLC and food she provided to birds and wildlife living near her home by Hapnot Lake.
Originally from Parkside, Saskatchewan, Georgie spent most of her life in Flin Flon, having moved to the community in the early 1950s.
