Flin Flon's Salvation Army needs your help

Over 100 years ago, Captain Joseph McFee needed to raise funds for a soup kitchen and shelter. He hung a large cooking pot on a tripod with the sign “Keep the pot boiling” to raise awareness and collect donations.

Over 100 years ago, Captain Joseph McFee needed to raise funds for a soup kitchen and shelter.

He hung a large cooking pot on a tripod with the sign “Keep the pot boiling” to raise awareness and collect donations.

Soon the “kettles” and eventually “bubbles” were in use across North America.

In 1921, “bell ringers” started volunteering in Prince George. Kettles would in time appear in Flin Flon to support the social programs of the Salvation Army.

Today, the Salvation Army helps nearly 100 families at Christmas. We rely completely on community donations to provide assistance.

We are motivated by the love of Christ. We help all without discrimination. There is a screening process to minimize abuse of our assistance; many other organizations do not have this.

Help us help others by:

• Volunteering to stand with our kettles, with one-hour shifts available.

• Donating at our office or one of our kettles.

Receipts are available for donations over $10. Simply seal your donation in an envelope and clearly write your name and mailing address on it.

Thank you for your generosity, which enables us to make Christmas a time of love and joy for all by helping those in need.

Over 90 per cent of the funds collected through the Flin Flon kettle program go to local client programs. To volunteer to watch over one of our three kettles, please call 204-687-7812.
