As temperatures continue to drop further below zero, it becomes increasingly important for skin to be covered and residents to stay warm.
CADAC will host a collection for Koats for Kids at its annual Festival of Trees on Nov. 28 and 29 at Creighton Community School.
CADAC’s Laurel Mackie says they welcome all gently used winter wear and blankets.
Donations will be distributed to those in need.
This year marks the eighth year for Koats for Kids and Mackie says they’ve never had leftovers from year to year.
“If the need isn’t in Creighton, it will get distributed to our region,” said Mackie.
Following the Festival of Trees, the donations will go to Kids First North, where they will be sorted and distributed.
All sizes of winter wear are welcome, including adult sizes.
Some children and teenagers require larger sizes, and Mackie says they don’t want to see anyone cold.
“And they’re not going to discriminate,” said Mackie, noting that if an adult asked for a coat they would not be turned down.
Donations accepted include jackets, boots, mittens, gloves, scarves, hats, socks, blankets and other items that keep people warm in the colder winter months.
The Festival of Trees will also be accepting donations for the Lord’s Bounty Food Bank at the door.
The Reminder will have more on the Festival of Trees.
