A holiday tradition gets underway this evening.
CADAC’s Festival of Trees runs today from 6-9:30 p.m. and tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Creighton Community School gym.
The event will feature more than 30 decorated trees, wreathes and centrepieces.
The public will be welcome to vote for their favourite – and place bids on those they hope to take home.
“We have some spectacular entries this year,” marveled organizer Laurel Mackie.
A craft show featuring area businesses will run in conjunction with the festival.
Also, tomorrow from 9-11 a.m. there will be the Breakfast with Santa event.
It’s a pancake breakfast for just $5. Parents are to bring their own cameras to snap photos with their children and jolly ol’ St. Nick.
Profits from the breakfast will go to the Creighton Community School Class of 2014.
The grads will also host a fundraising tea in the gym tomorrow from 1-3 p.m.
There is no entry fee to stop by the festival, but a silver collection will be accepted to support CADAC’s substance-abuse education and recovery programming.
Those stopping by are asked to bring gently used coats, blankets, scarves and other articles of winter clothing for the Coats for Kids program.
CADAC, Kids First North and Northland Ford will accept those donations in a Ford truck on behalf of less fortunate families.
Donations are needed for not only young children, but also young adults.
Please also consider bringing a non-perishable food item for the Lord’s Bounty Food Bank.
