Lord’s Bounty Food Bank statistics for the year ended Sept. 30:
• Total visits rose 14 per cent from 2,138 to 2,434, making for the sixth-busiest year in the food bank’s history.
• Food hamper distribution increased 20 per cent from 1,099 to 1,314. Last year’s hampers provided 14,604 meals.
• Of 393 clients, 173 were children or teenagers, 100 were female adults, 97 were male adults, 11 were female seniors and 11 were male seniors.
• Yearly expenses totalled $27,279. Food ($9,634) and rent ($9,300) were the most significant costs.
• Nearly one-third of clients (31 per cent) were single people with no children. The rest of the clientele was made up of families (29 per cent), single parents (25 per cent) and couples (15 per cent).
