Anne Muggaberg, a former resident of Flin Flon and now living in Albuquerque, New Mexico, is celebrating her 105th birthday today, December 17. Anne lived in Flin Flon from 1936 until 1968 with her husband, George, who worked in the Electrical Department at the HBM&S, and their children: Merle Mathieson, who attended school and then worked at the Manitoba Telephone System and was Chief Operator in Flin Flon for a number of years; George Muggaberg, who attended school and worked for the HBM&S for a few years; and Carol Ann Muggaberg, who was born and raised in Flin Flon and graduated from Hapnot High School. Although Anne has no grandchildren, she became a great, great, great, great aunt (six generations!) in September 2000. Although Anne's eyesight is failing and she is hard of hearing, for 105 years old she enjoys relatively good health and is still very alert. She has FINALLY been talked into using her walker MOST of the time and has finally been convinced that she doesn't need to "flip" the mattress on her bed when she changes the sheets. She still cleans and dusts her own bedroom/bathroom area. Anne contributes her longevity to having a baby at 43. She also still enjoys an occasional Gilbey's Gin and 7-Up. Anne celebrated her birthday with a party on December 13 with family and friends in the family home. She has received birthday greetings from President Bush, Queen Elizabeth and Flin Flon Mayor Dennis Ballard.
