Creighton Curling History - Part III In 1966-67, with Fern Kozak as president, the Grace Salamondra team of Faye Brecht, Evelyn Evans and Pearl Andrusiak became the Creighton Curling Club champions. The Diamond D District winners were Anne Skoronski skipping with Mary Demchinsky, Marg Clark and Norma Stevenson. That year the Royal Cup winners were Virginia Blake's team of Alpha Nystrom, Thelma Jacobson and Doreen Murray. In 1967-68 the club champions were Edna Garinger, Mae Lofgren, Lois Lundquist and Fern Kozak. The Diamond D representatives and the city champions were the Anne Skoronski team of Mary Demchinsky, Marg Clark and Norma Stevenson. The Royal Cup reps that year were Virginia Blake, Alpha Nystrom, Thelma Jacobson and Doreen Murray. In 1968-69, with Marg Clark as president, the club champions, royal Cup winners and the City Champions were the team of Anne Skoronski with Janet Skoronski, Peggy Paull and Peggy Watson. In 1969-70 Jean Knutson was the president and Thelma Jacobson's team were the club champions (team members not available). In 1970-71, Lorraine Jeffrey was president and Edna Garinger's team was club champions. In 1971-72 Doreen Murray was president and club champions that year were the Madeline Rawles team. In 1972-73 Helen Schwab was president and the Edna Garinger team of Wendy Garinger, Wanda Garinger and Brenda MacGowan were club champions. From 1973 to 1978, the girls curled Uptown as the Creighton Ladies Curling club until the Sportex was completed. They made and sold over 500 cookbooks as a fundraiser for the new rink. It should also be noted that the Creighton Ladies Afternoon Club was formed a couple years after the ladies regular evening curling, with Helen Imrie as the first president. There were six teams at the start, with curlers from the ladies' evening league coming out to teach the afternoon gals how to curl.
