It is with heartfelt sadness the family of Isabelle Harriet Matilda Walker announces that she peacefully passed away on Monday, May 31 at the age of 82. "God's hand touched her and she slept." Isabelle was born on February 13, 1922 in the Dahlton, SK district. On October 19, 1950 she married Harry (Tuffy) Bernard Walker and together they resided in Quill Lake, SK, Snow Lake and Flin Flon, MB before Isabelle took up residence in 1998 in Creighton Heritage Manor. Isabelle was predeceased by her husband Harry in 1998, parents Barney and Clemens Wittynek, sisters Irene, Eva and Suzanne, brothers Joseph, Harry and Alfred. One sister Elsie Morrison of Prince Albert survives Isabelle. Sisters-in-law Frances Erickson, Madeline Walker, Millie Walker, Clara Walker and Dorothy Arnason and brother-in-law Johnny Walker, many nieces and nephews and special friends will sadly miss her. A funeral service was held at Dadson Funeral Home on Friday, June 4, 2004 with the Reverend Ina Golaiy officiating. Eulogy was presented by Neil Johnston of Snow Lake, soloist Susan Lethbridge sang "How Great Thou Art" and "Amazing Grace" accompanied by Brent Lethbridge, guitarist. Active pallbearers were Floyd Robillard, Les Quesnel, Ralph Quaal, Rudy Quaal, Neil Johnston, and Clyde Walker. Honourary pallbearers were all Isabelle's family and friends. Memorial guest book was attended by Alice Nasselquist. Interment followed at East Hillside Cemetery, followed by a lunch at Creighton Heritage Manor served by the Denare Beach ladies. The following is the eulogy as presented by Neil Johnston of Snow Lake. As an old friend of Isabelle's I was asked to give this eulogy. Isabelle married Harry Bernard Walker, better known as Tuffy, in 1950 and farmed for a few years in Quill Lake, SK. These were hard times, no rain, poor crops, so they moved to Flin Flon and Tuffy worked for Midwest and Isabelle worked in the hospital in pediatrics. They never had any children of their own, but she loved kids. I used to take my grandchildren to see her at Stall Lake mine, and they would be treated royally. After she quit working at the hospital, she went out as a camp cook for Midwest. She was a great cook, and she enjoyed this way of life. Tuffy then became watchman at the Stall Lake mine in Snow lake and Isabelle stayed home to be with him. After a few years they retired back to Flin Flon on Milton Street where she lived until Tuffy passed away in March of 1998. Isabelle took Tuffy's passing very hard, and life was not the same without him. So she eventually sold the house and moved into the Creighton Manor where she resided until now. Isabelle loved to dance, travel, be the life of the party. Many a late nights were spent playing cards. She loved bingo until her eyesight became poor. She always made time to keep in touch by phone with her many special friends from east coast to west coast, and they will miss her dearly. Two years ago she went to Barrie, Ontario to visit her sister Irene and family. Isabelle never had a driver's license, but nothing slowed her down until a few years ago. Her friends and her family will miss her. Sincere gratitude is expressed by the family to Faye Brecht from Creighton Homecare, Creighton RCMP, Carl Lentowicz and Dana Dadson for the capable way they handled the situation on May 31. They are truly a credit to their professions. We wish to convey thanks to Rev. Ina Golaiy for conducting the service, the honourary pallbearers Floyd, Les, Ralph, Rudy, Neil and Clyde, the soloist Susan Lethbridge, guitarist Brent Lethbridge, and memorial book attendant Alice Nasselquist. Thanks to the Creighton Heritage Manor for the reception area and the Denare Beach and Creighton ladies for the excellent lunch after the memorial service. At this time we would like to pay tribute and say thank you for the wonderful care given to Isabelle by the staff of Creighton Homecare for the past six years. It was your tender loving care that made it possible to extend her life those extra six years and the journey she prayed would join her with her beloved Tuffy. Thank you to the volunteers who took time from their private lives to share time with her appointments and outings. We wish to thank everyone who through expressions of sympathy, phone calls, and food were able to make this difficult time for the family easier to bear. We appreciate those who travelled some distance to attend the memorial service and share in the celebration of Isabelle's life. We are truly thankful for the many acts of kindness and help provided by Dana Dadson and his staff. Your humour is so enlightening when dealing with so many things in such a short time. Isabelle's great love for children was evident by anyone who witnessed her life. If friends so wish, memorial donations may be made to the Children's Wish Foundation, c/o Christie's Flowers, 115 Main Street, Flin Flon, MB. Harvey and Barb Erickson Walker and Wittynek Families
