As I have visited throughout our region, the feedback has been clear. Health care is a major issue.

I’ve heard major concerns about the province’s privatization of our ambulance services, the loss of birthing services in Flin Flon, concerns about the lack of health care services in First Nations communities and ongoing concerns about people not having access to the healthcare they need.

Our NDP caucus has made it clear. We will fight to keep what we have and to improve and expand services. We have been at the forefront of fighting against cuts and privatization.

The NDP has been proud to have brought Medicare to Canada and we are not going to stand idly by while governments cut services and bring in a two-tiered healthcare system.

We have also announced our commitment to expanding Medicare. The current system provides incomplete coverage. What we are proposing is to expand health care coverage to include dental, eye, hearing and mental health care. Complete coverage that reflects the needs of 21st century Canadians.

Health care is a key priority in our region. I am committed to fighting to keep what we have and to work to establish a Medicare system that provides complete coverage for all.
