Ham Sandwich director Sheri Pearson has one simple request for theatregoers heading to the group’s next production.

“Keep an open mind.”

The Flin Flon acting troupe’s latest play is Regrets Only, a political satire written by playwright Paul Rudnick. The story, set in a penthouse in Manhattan’s ritzy Upper East Side, shows the story of a family and their relationship with a flamboyant, gay fashion designer.

Once the patriarch of the family, a lawyer, begins consulting with the President of the United States on a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage, antics ensue.

“It’s a quirky little play about love, marriage, friendship and a little bit of political drama thrown into the mix,” said Pearson.

For the troupe’s regular fans, it won’t be hard to find familiar faces in the six-member cast. Wendi Corden, Stacey Hyndman, Alain Lachapelle, Evan Quick and Diane Therien all have experience on the Ham Sandwich stage. Only one cast member, Katrina Windjack, has not performed with the group before. Windjack is a veteran of Flin Flon stage and song, having performed with the Flin Flon Community Choir along with playing Frenchy in the group’s production of Grease last summer.

“The rehearsal schedule’s been pretty good. We did auditions back in December and then did rehearsals in January,” said Pearson, who is making her directorial debut with the play.

“It’s a hectic process, getting everything together and whatnot, but it’s been a lot of fun as well.”

Regrets Onlywill hit the stage at the Flin Flon Community Hall on Mar. 16 and 17.
