Brandy Bloxom’s work was a certified fan favourite, according to northern art aficionados at A Northern Juried Art Exhibition.

Bloxom was awarded with the People’s Choice ribbon at the exhibition, an art event for artists across northern Manitoba and Saskatchewan held at the NorVA Centre during the Trout Festival.

The Denare Beach photographer earned the award for her photo, “A Century Lost.” Bloxom’s piece depicts three indigenous children sitting at desks in front of an abandoned church, recalling scenes from Canada’s dark past with residential schools.

Bloxom’s photo also earned second place in the show’s photography category. The piece will be entered in the Rural and Northern Juried Art Show in Winnipeg in September.
