Canadians have until August 31, 2008 to compose CanadaÕs next hockey anthem. CBC Sports announced that the response to CanadaÕs Hockey Anthem Challenge has been overwhelming, with a whopping 1,200 entrants in less than one month Ð as Canadians vie to compose an all-new musical theme for CBCÕs flagship sports broadcast CBCÕS HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA. ÒThe response from Canadians has been extraordinary, we couldnÕt be more pleased,Ó says Scott Moore, Executive Director of CBC Sports. Ò...The fact that weÕve received 1,200 submissions from coast to coast in such a short period of time exemplifies that this is truly a national competition and Canadians are thrilled about the opportunity to be a part of hockey history.Ó Since the contest launched on June 19, 2008, CBC has received a total of 1,200 entries from 10 provinces and two territories. The province of Ontario leads the way with 647 submissions followed by British Columbia with 187 and Alberta with 71. A complete breakdown of entrants by province and territory is listed below. The final song will be revealed during CBCÕs HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA first Saturday night doubleheader of the 2008-09 season on October 11.
