SNOWMOBILING FUN WITH THE KIDS Fun Activities to do with the Kids while SnowmobilingÊ 1. Let the kids help plan the route with the use of trail maps which are obtained when you purchase your trail pass or from your local snowmobile club. Mark out points of interest; places to stop for breaks; etc. Bring the maps along on the ride and refer to them along the way. 2. Plan a lunch break at a country diner in one of the many small towns along the trail system. This will allow the kids a chance to get out of their snowsuits and warm up with some soup. Bring along some cards or colouring books. 3. Plan an outdoor winter picnic! Bring along a pack containing newspaper, kindling, and matches in a water-tight container. Choose an open site located a safe distance from the trail and have the children assist to make a fire pit. Of course you'll need "snow chairs" to sit around the fire and these can be packed in place while you wait for the coals. Now enjoy those roasted weiners and marshmallows! Ensure the fire is well extinguished before hitting the trails and bring along a plastic bag to take your garbage home with you. 4. Consider a night expedition! Choose an open spot and stop to look at all the stars and constellations. Bring along a bedtime snack to munch on while you star gaze. 5. Roll up some "crazy carpets" to take along on the snowmobile. Look for a good sledding hill to stop for a break and enjoy a different kind of fun. 6. Make a "things to find" list prior to heading out. This keeps the little ones on the back occupied. Include such things as a farm animal; bunny tracks; a bridge; a nest; a deer; etc. Review the findings when you stop for a rest. 7. Have the children bring along some bird seed or a suet bag and search out the perfect place for a birdie buffet. You'll delight the kids and the birds. HAPPY TRAILS!!
