The La Ronge Ice Wolves are in the driver's seat in the ITECH Conference selection series, after improving to 2-0 with a 2-0 win over the Battlefords North Stars on Wednesday night. Doug Exner and Dillon Henningson had second period goals for the Wolves, who were out shot 37-32. Alex Gagnon was perfect in net for La Ronge, while Guillaume Miszczak allowed two goals in the loss. The Yorkton Terriers won their first game of the Sherwood Conference selection series, beating the Estevan Bruins 3-1. Scott Carpenter, Barry Sparvier and Chris Korchinski had the Terrier goals, while Andrew Howden was the lone goal scorer for the Bruins. Estevan out shot Yorkton 35-27, but had a hard time beating Kevin Dziaduck. Stefan Koo got the start in net for Estevan, as Juliano Pagliero was out with a suspension. Nipawin is facing elimination now after dropping a 4-3 decision on Wednesday to the Melfort Mustangs in the ITECH Conference elimination series. Jordan Morgan and Matt Fennell had power play goals for Melfort in the first period, while Kurtis Astle and Chad Richardson both scored short handed goals in the second period for the Mustangs. Nipawin's Mike Bulawka scored two power play goals, while Cody Purves had the only even strength goal of the night. Nipawin out shot Melfort 42-24, but for the third time this series, Aaron Forer was the difference in net. The Mustangs can eliminate the Hawks on Saturday.
