With Christmas so near, we at the Recycling Centre would like to offer a few tips for a greener Christmas: Use a timer on your house and tree lights - you can save a lot of energy by doing this. Consider an artificial tree. They come in all shapes and sizes and some are already decorated with lights and bulbs. Save our forests. Help your children email Santa their wish list instead of using paper and an envelope. Canada Post has a special section on their website where you can write to Santa. Make room for an extra blue box or other type of recycling container, as this is the time of year for increased packaging, aluminum cans, plastic pop bottles, etc. There are a few things that cannot be recycled. Please ensure that the following items do not end up in your blue box: gift wrapping paper, tissue paper, ribbon and Christmas cards. At this time the staff of the Recycling Centre would like to thank all those residents who participated in our recycling program for 2005. It was very rewarding to see the interest displayed in this very worthy endeavour. Without your participation, we would not have reached our goal in tonnage. Final tonnage figures will be announced in the New Year. We would also like to extend our warmest wishes for a happy holiday season and a joyous new year to all. Drive safely and enjoy your families.
