The Board of Education of the Creighton School Division is proud to announce the appointment of Sharon Trubiak to the position of vice-principal in the Creighton Community School, commencing in the new school year. Sharon will be succeeding Robert Bratvold, who has served as the VP for the past eight years. Rob has been appointed to the position of Director of Education in the Creighton School Division. Sharon was born and raised in Creighton. She attended Creighton School in her elementary years, and attended Hapnot Collegiate in Flin Flon. Sharon began her post-secondary training with an Early Childhood Development Program, which led to her Level II Certificate as a child care worker. However, she wanted more, and so she earned a B.Ed., with Great Distinction, in 1992 at the University of Brandon. In 2004, Sharon also completed her Level I School Administrator's Certificate from the Province of Manitoba Education and Youth. She is currently enrolled in a Post Baccalaureate Certificate in Education program at the University of Manitoba. Sharon's main teaching fields have included elementary classroom instruction (various grades), guidance counselling, and alternative education at the middle years level. She has taught in all three elementary schools in the Flin Flon School Division Ð Ruth Betts, Parkdale, and McIsaac. She has also been an instructor at the University College of the North. Sharon has also been the vice-principal of McIsaac School for three years. She is presently working as a student support teacher in the Flin Flon School Division, and she is a Manitoba Child and Family Services on-call worker. During her time in Flin Flon, Sharon has chaired the Division Professional Development Committee and has also been involved in professional development at the regional level. She has also provided leadership to the parent council, Canadian Parents for French, student council, the McIsaac Messenger, and various staff teams. Sharon has also been active in her community. She has been a member of the community Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Committee for many years, and has been a board member of the Mental Health Association. She has also been a volunteer for the Phantom Lake Soccer Club. Sharon has four children: Amber, Ebony, Curt and Rob. She also has two grandchildren. When she is not engaged in her work and community, Sharon enjoys walking, baking, reading and planning family get-togethers at their home in Schist Lake. Sharon is a very enthusiastic educator and is looking forward to taking up her new position!8/5/06
