Montreal - A top senator says Canada's ports haven't done enough to prevent terrorists and other criminals from exploiting the waterfront nearly two years after his committee warned of rampant gang activity and lax security at the seaports. Colin Kenny, chairman of a Senate committee that studied national security and defence, says the ports are plagued by poor access controls, inadequate policing and corruption among some unionized dock workers. "Right now, the St. Lawrence River system, the seaway, really is without any policing at all," Kenny said recently from Slovenia, where he was on government business. Rev. Dorian Baxter will fly the old Tory banner in defiance of the party's merger with the Canadian Alliance. Sarnia, Ontario - About 250,000 litres of highly volatile chemicals leaked into the St. Clair River south of Sarnia, Ministry of Environment officials said Sunday. The leak, from an Imperial Oil plant in the area known as Chemical Valley, was reported around 5:30 Sunday morning.
