Vancouver - A Canadian team's bid to launch the country's first manned spaceship is on hold, although the aspiring astronauts have not given up their attempt to win a $10 million prize. The launch planned for Oct. 2 from the small town of Kindersley, Saskatchewan was delayed due to the "availability of a few components and their integration into the overall space flight program." Toronto - Rogers Wireless Communications Inc. has agreed to acquire rival Canadian cell-phone carrier Microcell Telecommunications Inc., which had been fending off a hostile suitor. Ottawa - After 50 books, one of Canada's most esteemed authors is packing in his pen. Pierre Berton says he has written his last book, Prisoners of the North, which goes on sale this week. "Fifty is enough," Berton said. St. John's, Nfld. - Search and rescue crews and police have recovered a man's body from eastern Newfoundland. The identity of the man found in Bonavista, Nfld., has not been confirmed, but police had been searching the area for the body.
