Halifax - A naval board of inquiry into the fire on HMCS Chicoutimi will resume Tuesday in Halifax after pausing while the submarine's commander and two senior officers sought legal advice. Cmdr. Luc Pelletier is expected to be a key witness at the closed-door hearing into why the submarine caught fire while crossing the Atlantic. Lieut. Chris Saunders died in the fire. The inquiry will look into Pelletier's decision to leave one of two conning tower hatches open during repairs in rough seas. It's believed a wave could have splashed into the control room, sparking a short circuit and an electrical fire.
