Ottawa - The federal government should do whatever it takes to get a national health council up and running, including withholding money from provinces that won't co-operate, says Roy Romanow. "It's come to the point where the patience of Canadians is right at its very limit," Romanow said after a speech at the University of Ottawa. The council would report on how provinces spend health dollars and also provide for public input in health policy. Alberta Premier Ralph Klein participated in the February conference but is now saying the health council would intrude on provincial jurisdiction.
