Moncton, New Brunswick - The New Brunswick government will help Molson build a new brewery in Moncton with millions of dollars in incentives, in part to keep it from being built in Halifax. Molson announced it picked Moncton as the site for a new brewery because it has a growing workforce and is a key entry point into the eastern Canadian market. A $3.5-million forgivable loan from the province helped clinch the deal. Ottawa - Female family doctors are poised to dominate the field in Canada, altering the type of services provided, according to a new study. The number of female family doctors has soared: more than 2,000 joined the ranks in a decade. A majority of doctors under 35 are women. Female physicians provided more obstetrical (pregnancy) services and billing in this area increased 60 per cent among the woman doctors. They also tended to offer more mental health services. Edmonton - A majority of diabetics are not getting proper treatment to prevent heart disease and strokes, according to a new study. "We need to put the message out in a bigger way in the public and family practitioners' offices," said Dr. Jeffrey Johnson, who led the University of Alberta study. Researchers found less than half of the people surveyed with Type 2 diabetes were being given drugs to cut the risk of heart disease and only a quarter were being prescribed drugs to prevent strokes.
