Portage La Prairie, MB - The RCMP is investigating why a man died during a Roman-style chariot race. Thomas Scarrow, 70, of Arcola, Sask., died Thursday night during a Ben Hur contest, about 50 kilometres west of Portage La Prairie. RCMP spokesman Dan Toppings said police are trying to determine whether it was an accident or natural causes such as a heart attack that killed Scarrow. He added that a witness told police Scarrow appeared to lean back and fall off his chariot.
